End of an Era

Despite the fact that i work and live (and breath life into) the city everyday, it seems i was the last to know that one of Australia’s designer icons ‘Collette Dinnigan’ has respectfully bowed out of the Fashion game.

Siting ‘Family’ as her reason for the sudden exit, Dinnigan will close up successful boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne and London to spend more time focusing on her husband and their 2 children. Dinnigan had apparently been searching for the appropriate manager/ investor for several years to carry on the business but we can only assume that no one made the cut. Designers, such as myself, running their own business in the hopes of imitating the labels success should keep succession and the future of the company in mind from birth.

Unwed women who planned to don a Collette Dinnigan frock on their big day should get in quick to make a purchase before the company’s close early next year. Anyone else should head to her stores for imminent sales with further sales expected as closing date looms.

Falsetto Of Fashion

A tad late but here are some pics from the “falsetto of Fashion’ event i was part of last month at Ivy Bar in Sydney. The event is held yearly and boasts the freshest upcoming designers, musicians and artists.

Meet Your Style Icon

To celebrate the launch of new-season style, Chadstone – The Fashion Capital, Chatswood Chase Sydney and QueensPlaza Brisbane will host ‘Icons of Style’.

The celebration will be led by global icon of style Olivia Palermo who will travel to Australia for the first time for exclusive in Centre appearances and fashion events to launch Spring Summer 2013.

Mink Pink Swimwear

I have to say i was really disappointed in Mink Pink‘s Bike Gang &   LA LA Land (Venice beach Shoot) Campaigns. I found them unoriginal, over the top and completely contrived. I didn’t get that feeling of caution-to-the-wind-youth that i knew the photographer was trying to express, IMO it just didn’t make it.

Fortunately for me their newly released swimwear look-book has completely redeemed the label for me. The shoot isn’t over the top, the photography is great and the pieces are nothing less than stunning. Check it out HERE.

Pattern-phinalia

Seems Easy to predict that spring is going to be full of colour, and I’m not talking about our natural Flora & fauna. Tropical, sunsets and galactic prints are here there and everywhere this season and i for one cannot wait to get amongst it.
